FAQ

I am new to counselling. What can I expect?

Welcome! Whatever it took you to get to here, consider this an already major step in your journey to working through challenges you might be facing. When you go to book a session, you will be asked to fill out a short consent and confidentiality form and you will be asked to put a credit card on file. You will not be charged for your consult, and will be automatically charged for any subsequent counselling sessions. In our initial consult, we can meet, chat about what you might be looking for, and hear from me about my thoughts or general approach in the counselling process. You will never be expected to discuss anything you aren't ready or wanting to bring up. There is no obligation to book a session after our consultation. In fact, I would encourage you to have a few consults and then pick a counsellor that you feel is a best match. Starting counselling can be a little scary, and your counsellor understands this and works to help you feel comfortable during the process.

As a Master's Level Counsellor awaiting registration with BCACC, insurance cannot yet be accepted for your sessions. If you are an existing client, you will be notified when this changes (anticipated to be in July or August, 2025). It is your responsibility to know what coverage you have and where it can be used. You will be able to discuss with your counsellor to help you figure out if you can submit claims. Direct billing will not be offered, and you will receive receipts from each session that you can then take to your insurance provider.

Yes! I work with children 10 years and up at my in-person office space at South Delta Counselling and Wellness. Virtually, at Authentic Healing Counselling, I work with adults (19+). If you would like to book with me for you or your child in-person, please email info@southdeltacounselling.com and ask to book with me. You can also email me directly here to discuss what you are looking for.

Yes, I offer limited spaces for individuals that are eligible for a sliding scale (reduced fees) in an effort to keep my services accessible to those facing financial hardships or other barriers. If you would like to discuss options for reduced fees, please reach out via email or we can always discuss this in our initial free consultation. Keep in mind, as spaces are limited, the request cannot always be guaranteed. I will work with you as best I can to make services accessible, or help you find alternatives for what may work best for you.
